I am thinking today....It seems that Humanities as a university subject is struggling in our days. Many Universities send out pledges for saving their Humanities and Classical Study departments, archaeologists in Greece try to save whatever by appealing to people asking them to allow the monuments to have a future, many monuments and sites are forgotten and unprotected or destroyed. Many State Museums close or hardly manage to survive because of the economic crisis, with employees that do not get paid for months. New York Times points out the loss of thinkers in a society that needs them desperately. In Syria groups of armed men destroy the country's history and plunder its monuments. So while people get killed they also become deprived of their history. We have studied humanities because we learn to think that way. But do we learn?

History seems to keep repeating itself to teach us.But we must look deeper into the depths of our history and stop thinking only of our own pockets. The reality we face in relation to climate change and environmental destruction is a phase of history we are a part of. We are given through it the ability to think and decide. But have we stopped thinking? Is it actually so that as more and more information we get on the Internet, as more we write in our facebook wall, we think and act less? Is it these big clusters of people in Brazil and Turkey that the governments fight against. Is it when we meet all together we get back our creative power and not while in front of our blogs and twitters? How many places can we manage to be at the same time? I choose people, I chose being with them, thinking discussing together with them, look at their eyes and feel! Remember that we cannot relax and think that someone else will take care of all the decisions we have to make! so take the pledge and go back to philosophy, classics, history. Because that is when you learn to have memory!

We should we become aware that this game is maybe lost. We need only to succumb to what defines our very existence ... the law of nature of which we are and remain a part and do something today about it! Take the pledge now, don't stop thinking or acting!
