NTNU is committed to working cooperatively with private landlords to provide for the need for rental housing in Trondheim. The university is also dependent on Trondheim residents who choose to open their homes to NTNU students.

One aspect of NTNU's international strategy is to recruit researchers of the highest calibre. The university's housing policy has as its goal to have some kind of housing available for newly employed permanent or temporary staff, along with guest researchers. who will be at NTNU for more than a month, upon their arrival.

This may include either housing that is owned by NTNU or a private residence that is provided by the housing service. The housing should cover the need for transitional housing or short-term housing, and is not intended to be permanent housing.
